Algarve

Cascais

Praia da Rainha is a sandy cove that is located in the town of Cascais. It was once the private beach of Queen Amelia. This beach is very popular with locals and tourists alike. Guimaraes
Located about 45 minutes north of Porto, Guimaraes is one of the most important cities in Portugal. It is home to the first king of Portugal, Afonso Henriques, and is known for its architectural integrity. It is also listed as a World Heritage site.
Guimaraes has an abundance of historical buildings and monuments. The Convent and Church of Sao Francisco is a major architectural landmark in the city. The building features a variety of styles including gothic and mannerist. It was constructed between the 16th and 18th centuries.
Guimaraes also has the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza, a 15th century residence that is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city. The palace features lavish interiors.
Coimbra
Located in the center of Portugal, Coimbra is a provincial town that has much to offer to visitors. Aside from the oldest university in Portugal, Coimbra is also home to many parks and forests. In fact, Coimbra has a large number of public schools, including several kindergartens.
Coimbra is home to the Instituto Nacional de Medicina Legal, a forensic science institute. This state-run institution has regional offices in Coimbra.
The University of Coimbra is the oldest university in Portugal and is a World Heritage Site. Founded in Lisbon in 1290, the university moved to Coimbra in 1537, transferring to the Coimbra Royal Palace in 1544.
Porto
Located on the south bank of the Douro River, Porto is a historic city. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and its history is rich. Its old town is one of the oldest in Europe. Porto’s cathedral is one of the most important sights in the city.
Porto’s cathedral is located on the site of a former Visigothic citadel. It was built in 559 and was later largely rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is an imposing structure.
Porto’s Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was originally a 12th century Romanesque building. Its tall tower provides excellent views of the city.
